The Ministry of Agriculture has taken steps to import 100,000 metric tons of urea for this Maha season.
The Chairman of Commercial Fertilizer Company, Mr. Methsiri Wijegunawardena mentioned that the fertilizer will arrive in Sri Lanka in the first week of October.
Cultivation of this season is scheduled to begin on September 15 and it is planned to cultivate paddy on an area of 800,000 hectares.
Mr. Methsiri Wijegunawardena, Chairman of the Commercial Fertilizer Company, mentioned that currently remaining stocks of urea fertilizers will be distributed to the districts where cultivation will begin at the beginning of the season.
