    PUCSL approved to increase the Electricity bill charges by 75% – CEB suspends bonuses

    The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka has approved to increase the electricity bill charges by 75% with effect from tomorrow (10).

    Its chairman Mr. Janaka Ratnayake announced this at the press conference that is currently being held.

    According to the number of units used, the electricity bill increases as follows.

    Below 30 units: 264%
    Units 31-60: 200%
    Units 61-90: 125%
    Units 91-120: 89%
    Units 121-180: 79%

    In the meantime, he also said that he instructed the Ceylon Electricity Board to suspend the payment of bonuses until financial stability is established.
