According to a notice issued by the court regarding the interference of a group of police officers who were on duty at the police roadblock near the road leading to the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court on May 25, 08 front-line activists of the struggle who appeared in court today have been released on bail.
08 activists of the struggle including Father Sathyawel, Damitha Abeyrathne, Joseph Stalin, Rathindu Senaratne, and Jagath Manuvarana were released on bail.
The Slave Island police stated in the court that the suspects will be presented to the court for obstructing the duty of the police officers standing at the police roadblock and obstructing a prison bus.
After considering the facts presented by the police, the court released the 8 suspects on bail and ordered the case to be called again on November 28.
