Samagi Janabalawega Secretary General Ranjith Maddumabandara said that the name proposed by the opposition for the new prime ministership of the proposed all-party government will be presented to the speaker at the party leaders’ meeting tomorrow (15).
The Secretary-General mentioned that the name of opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa has been suggested for that.
A special discussion regarding this was held today (14).
Representatives of the Lanka Workers’ Congress, Sri Lanka Freedom Party, and 10 independent parties participated in the discussion and MP Dilan Perera participated as the representative of MP Dallas Alahapperuma.
But JVP did not participate in this discussion.
Member of Parliament Athuraliye Rathana Thero, who represented the 10 independent parties, said that the final decision will be announced after further discussions with other parties regarding the related proposal.
Meanwhile, due to the resignation of Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa from the presidency, the current Prime Minister Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe is scheduled to be sworn in as the Acting President tomorrow (15).
The National Organizer of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, Member of Parliament Mr. Tissa Attanayake states that Mr. Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the opposition, is not ready to hold the office of Prime Minister under the presidency of Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe.
