A special police team comprising an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of the CID has met the Attorney General with statements obtained from the captain and three others of the MV X press Pearl ship that caught fire in the sea near the Colombo harbor.
Officers from the CID’s Anti-Migration Unit yesterday (31) obtained statements from the ship’s captain for 14 hours, the chief engineer for 13 hours and the deputy chief engineer for 12 hours, said the DIG.
Mr. Ajith Rohana further stated that he will obtain advice from the Attorney General by submitting excerpts from those statements for further investigations.
