    Priority when fueling trucks carrying essential food items

    Inspector-General of Police Mr. C. D. Wickramaratne has ordered all the police stations on the island to give priority and security in supplying fuel only to lorries transporting essential food items in areas outside of Colombo.

    This order has been issued in response to a request made by the Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce to the Inspector General that Lanka Sathosa, Sri Lanka Government Commercial Miscellaneous Statutory Corporation Ltd, Food Commissioner’s Department as well as private store chains across the country which transports essential food items to rural areas, are facing difficulties in getting fuel for lorries.

    Inspector-General has emphasized in his order to act appropriately on this request and take necessary measures to ensure the safety of properties and lives, including ensuring the safety of fuel stations.
