The Veteran actress Leonie Kothalawala has passed away today (19) morning.
She was 78 years old at the time of the death and was ill for quite some time.
Leonie Kotelawala was 17 years old when she started acting as a schoolgirl and later shined in Stage Dramas, Teledramas and Cinemas.
She started the acting from appearing in the main character of the ‘Sama’ stage drama created by the G. D. L. Perera for a drama competition organized by the Sri Lanka institute of Arts in 1962.
She was nominated as the best actress at the 1966 University awards award ceremony and won the award for the best actress at OCIC Awards Award ceremony in 1988.
The funeral of her body will be held at the Borella Cemetery.
