China presents a comprehensive statement on human rights resolutions to the UN Human Rights Council, entitled “Promoting and Protecting Human Rights.” Chen Xu, China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, made the remarks at the 49th session of the UN Human Rights Council on the 16th.
The Declaration emphasized that all countries should promote economic, political, social, cultural and environmental rights in accordance with their national status and the needs of the people, and achieve holistic public development.
Mr. Chen Xu pointed out that the basis for the enjoyment of human rights is laid through development. Chinese President Xi Jinping has proposed a global development initiative that seeks strong, green and high-level global development. This is another common initiative introduced by China to promote international human rights. Chen Xu also said that China hopes to work with all countries to implement this.
