Change in school examinations in Western province due to lack of paper

Western Province Provincial Director of Education Srilal Nonis has informed school principals that the year-end assessment examinations for GCE Ordinary Level classes in schools in the Western Province have been postponed due to a shortage of paper.

Accordingly, the final examinations for grades 9, 10, and 11 in schools in the Western Province will be held after the New Year holidays in April, the Provincial Director of Education has informed the school principals.

Mr. Lal Nonis has written to the school principals requesting them to conduct the examinations as per the schedule given by the schools in the Western Province or as per the schedule prepared by the schools as the shortage of paper has also affected the holding of year-end examinations in grades 6-7 and 8 in the schools of the Western Province.

Although every principal in the Western Province has been given a CD containing the question papers of Grades 6, 7, and 8 the principals have informed the Western Provincial Director of Education that there are problems such as shortage of paper and increase in printing prices.

Therefore, the conduct of examinations for students in schools in the Western Province has become a crisis.
