US Special Forces soldiers have killed an ISIS leader in the Idaliv area northwest of Syria.
The US State Department has confirmed that ISIS leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashmi al-Qureshi was killed during a special counter-terrorism operation launched this morning.
Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qureshi was named one of the world’s most wanted terrorist leaders and became the leader of ISIS in 2019 after the assassination of former ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
The U.S. government says 13 people have been killed in the operation, including six women and four women.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said the operation was “very successful” and that no US security forces were harmed.
In a statement, US President Joe Biden said the operation was aimed at making the world a better place.
