It is reported that several students have been injured in a clash between a group of students of the Ragama Medical Faculty and another group, following an attack on the hostel of the Ragama Medical Faculty.
One person has been arrested in connection with the incident.
The clash took place at around 2 this morning, police said.
The injured students are currently receiving treatment at the Ragama Hospital.
The students have taken into custody a car belonging to the attackers and handed it over to the police.
The students told the media that they did not know the reason for the attack.
Ragama Police are conducting further investigations.
