Mayor of Baddulla Priyantha Amarasiri was sacked from his post by Uva provincial governor A.J.Mussamil.
Instead, Deputy Mayor A. Nalinda Ranger(SLFP) was appointed as acting Mayor.
Secretary to the Ministry of Local Government, Uva Province Mangala Wijenayake said the mayor was removed by Governor A.J.M.Mussamil by gazette notification extraordinary.
He said the mayor had failed to present the budget for the third time and to have it passed in council.
