The All Island Government Medical Officers’ Association states that there is a serious shortage of drugs in the country.
Dr. Nishantha Dissanayake, President of the All Ceylon Government Medical Officers’ Association said that there is a shortage of drugs such as vitamin C, paracetamol and thyroxine in pharmacies for several days.
Although the State Pharmaceutical Corporation manufactures paracetamol and vitamin C, it is not sufficient, he said.
Mr. Dassanayake said that it was an unacceptable argument that the Minister of State for Supply and Regulation of Drug Production had recently increased the price of drugs by about 17 percent to control the purchase of drugs unnecessarily.
