The Meteorological Department states that showers exceeding 100 mm are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North Western provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts today.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Palawa area and in the districts of Ampara and Batticaloa after 2 pm today, the Met Department said.
The wind speed will increase to 40-50 kmph in the western slopes of the central hills as well as in the North Central and North Western provinces and in the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.
