Teachers’ and principals’ unions, which have launched a series of nationwide protests over pay inequality and are leading teachers to stay away from online teaching, have now decided to sign a petition online, taking their protest in a new direction.
It is to urge the government to find a solution to the salary issue.
The General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Union Joseph Stalin stated that the signing of the online petition will commence from today (14). He also says that he will continue the trade union action that has been started until their demands are met.
Mr. Stalin said the signing of the online petition was aimed because it is ‘dangerous’ to mobilize teachers in the face of the Covid epidemic.
