A team of medical officers has been appointed to conduct a second post mortem on the maid who was burnt to death while at the residence of MP Rishad Bathiudeen.
That is according to the nomination of the Director General of Health Services on the recommendation of the Attorney General.
The body is to be exhumed at the Dayagama cemetery where the girl was buried the day after tomorrow (30).
The team consists of Dr. Jean Perera, Professor of Forensic Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, Dr. Sameera Gunawardena, Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, Senior Lecturer in Forensic Medicine, Peradeniya Teaching Hospital.
The body buried in the Dayagama area will be exhumed under the supervision of the Magistrate.
In addition, a number of experts in the field are scheduled to participate in the body exhuming process on the 30th.
Further investigations are being carried out in this regard.
Especially the way the girl died here, was she raped? So what is that period? The Judicial Medical Council is due to obtain reports on whether the girl was brutally tortured or otherwise.
Police Media Spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana stated that further investigations are being carried out accordingly.
