    STF raided Otekele swamp using Drones and Boats searching for Illegal Alcohol

    A stock of goda used for the production of illegal liquor in the Othekele swamp area in Ja-Ela has been arrested and handed over to the Ja-Ela Police for further investigations.

    The raid was carried out by a team of STF personnel from the Gonahena camp, along with drone machines and a team of motorboats engaged in offshore operations yesterday (13).

    The suspects were not present at the time of the raid.

    Among the items seized were 4,680 liters of goda, 26 barrels of iron and 02 copper coils.

    Simultaneously, a state-of-the-art high-speed boat was donated to minister of Public Safety, Dr. Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekera at the Cinnamon Lake premises on 13.07.2021 by Sri Lanka Motor Boat Association for use in STF to curb illegal activities in the inland waters of Sri Lanka in order to make the underwater operations unit more efficient

    Mr. Rajiva Fernando, President of the Motor Boat Association, Mr. Malan Lowe, Commander of the STF, Mr. Waruna Jayasundara, Attorney-at-Law, Mr. Ajith Rohana, Senior DIG, Assistant Superintendent of Police (STF) Aruna Katugampola were also present at the occasion.
