Chandrika’s petition throws Maithripala out of the party chairman position

The Colombo High Court has issued an interim restraining order temporarily preventing former President Maithripala Sirisena from holding the post of Sri Lanka Freedom Party chairman.

It was considering a writ petition submitted to the court by former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga.

Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga was the leader of the Sri Lankan National Party from 1994 to 2005.
