Egypt Rejects the American Offer to Temporarily Take Over the Gaza Strip

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has rejected the American Central Intelligence Agency’s proposal that Egypt should take over the security of the Gaza Strip before the Palestinian National Authority takes over the territory after the end of the current Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

This is stated in a report published by the Israel Times newspaper today (9).

It is also reported that the Egyptian President said in a discussion with the head of the American Central Intelligence Agency, William Joseph Burns, on the 7th that Egypt does not play a role in operations against Hamas, and that the organization has maintained peace with Egypt and on the borders of the Gaza Strip in recent years.

The Wall Street Journal quoted a statement from a high-ranking Egyptian official and reported on it.

The US Central Intelligence Agency has refused to comment on the matter.
