Basil tells the President about an inevitable cause amid disagreements

The ruling party, Podujana Peramuna, has stated their commitment to supporting President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s efforts in advancing the country’s development program. They emphasized that their support will continue moving forward.

The former minister mentioned this during the special discussion held by the party leaders of the government side with the president yesterday (14).

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, General Secretary of Podujana Peramuna Advocate Sagara Kariyawasam, Minister Douglas Devananda, Minister Jeevan Thondaman, United National Party Member of Parliament Vajira Abeywardena, Member of Parliament ALM Ataullah and others represented the parties of the ruling party for this discussion chaired by President Ranil Wickramasinghe.

Mr. Basil Rajapaksa stated that certain trade unions and local politicians affiliated with his party are criticizing the government’s policies from a conflicting standpoint. However, these issues are not significant enough to hinder the country’s development initiatives.

He has mentioned that it is possible to solve those problems as well as any problem that arises in working together through discussion and for that, it is important to have a face-to-face meeting with the President once a month.

Also, Mr. Basil Rajapaksa has said that the Podujana Peramuna party including himself has worked with several presidents in recent history and according to that experience, President Ranil Wickremesinghe has an organized and active staff that no other president has had so far.
