The Department of Census and Statistics says that the preliminary work of population and housing census has started.
This is the 15th Population and Housing Census of the country.
Mr. Anura Kumara, the director general of the said department, said that the necessary maps for the census have been prepared by now.
But he said that the work of listing the buildings will continue.
The last census of this country was conducted in 2012.
A census was scheduled to be conducted again in 2021 but could not be conducted due to the Corona epidemic.
Anura Kumara, Director General of the Department of Census and Statistics, added that information such as the age, health status, occupation, and residence of people will be obtained in this year’s census.
