According to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, the highest contribution to the country’s economic activities in 2021 is the Western Province, while the North-Western Province has the 2nd place and the Central Province has the 3rd place.
The Central Bank says that 42.6% of the nominal gross domestic product is provided by the Western Province, while the contribution of the North-West Province is 11.1% and the contribution of the Central Province is 10.1%.
In the year 2021, the North-West Province had given the highest contribution to agricultural activities and it was 17.6%.
The contribution of agricultural activities in the Southern Province is 14.3% and the contribution of the Central Province is 13%.
Meanwhile, the Western Province has continuously contributed to industrial activities. It is 48.2%.
The North West Province has contributed 11.5%, and the Central Province has contributed 9.5% to the activities of the industrial sector.
In terms of service sector activities, the Western Province has contributed 44.7%.
In 2021, the contribution of the service sector in the Central Province is 10%. The contribution of the North-West Province is 9.8%.
