    The sub-committees appointed by the National Assembly will meet tomorrow

    Members have been appointed for the two National Policy and Economic Stabilization sub-committees which were decided to be appointed in the first meeting of the National Assembly.

    The sub-committees are scheduled to meet tomorrow.

    The second meeting of the National Assembly, which was established according to a resolution brought to the Parliament by Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, was held today (06) at the Parliament Complex.

    It was chaired by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

    These two sub-committees were appointed to set the common priorities of the Parliament to guide the formulation of short, medium and long-term national policies and to reach consensus on short and medium-term public minimum programs related to economic stabilization.

    The members of the sub-committee for identification of priorities in short, medium and long-term national policy formulation are: Pavithra Vanniarachchi, Sagara Kariyawasam, Wajira Abeywardena, Asanka Navaratne, Mano Ganesan, Rohitha Abeygunawardena, Ali Sabri Rahim, Palani Digambaram, Rauf Hakeem, Nazeer Ahmed, Namal Rajapakse, Johnston Fernando, A. L. M. Ataullah.

    The members of the sub-committee for identifying short and medium term programs related to economic stabilization are Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, Wajira Abeywardena, Asanka Navarathne, Rishad Badiuddin, Palani Digambaram, Patali Champika Ranawaka, Sisira Jayakodi, M. Rameswaran, Mano Ganesan, Tiran Alas, Nazeer Ahmed and A. L. M. Ataullah.

    The National Assembly meets under the chairmanship of the Speaker.

    The Prime Minister, the Leader of the House, the Chief Organizer of the ruling party, the Leader of the Opposition as well as the Chief Organizer of the Opposition are its members by ex officio.

    In addition, the National Assembly consists of MPs representing parliament from recognized political parties.

    1. Why National Assembly? Please curtail or arrange mass cost cut to support the public without waste our taxpayers monies….someone should tell us the cost for this day’s EVENT please…
