    Landslide warnings issued for 8 districts

    The National Building Research Institute has warned of landslides, soil erosions and large rockslides in several areas in eight districts due to heavy rains.

    Therefore, the National Disaster Management Center urges the people in the following areas to take immediate safety measures.

    The warning will be in effect until 4.30 pm tomorrow (08).

    Bulathsinhala, Agalawatta, Palindanuwara, Matugama, Horana, Walallawita and Ingiriya Divisional Secretariats in the Kalutara District are at risk.

    Kegalle, Deraniyagala, Warakapola, Ruwanwella, Galigamuwa, Mawanella, Rambukkana, Bulathkohupitiya, Yatiyantota, Dehiowita and Aranayake Divisional Secretariats in the Kegalle District are also at risk.

    Also, the Neluwa Divisional Secretariat in the Galle District and the Eheliyagoda, Kalawana, Ayagama, Kiriella, Elapatha, Ratnapura and Nivithigala Divisional Secretariats in the Ratnapura District are at risk.

    The Ambagamuwa Divisional Secretariat in the Nuwara Eliya District and the Seethawaka and Padukka Divisional Secretariats in the Colombo District have been warned of landslides.

    The Disaster Management Center states that there is a risk of landslides in the Mirigama, Attanagalla and Gampaha Divisional Secretariats in the Gampaha District and the Pasbage Korale Divisional Secretariat in the Kandy District.
