New state ministers do not have any privileges

The Chief Organizer of the Governor’s Party, Minister of Urban Development and Housing Mr. Prasanna Ranatunga says that the new state ministers are not working under any privilege.

“Currently, only 20 ministers have been appointed. It is difficult to run institutions with that size. For example, I have 35 companies and it is difficult for me to do it alone. But when the state ministers are appointed, they can be assigned to look at those institutions. Then the status of those institutions can be improved. That is why new state ministers were appointed today. All of them work on MP’s salary so they are not a big burden to the government. But during the previous government, there were 88 state ministers in addition to the ministers. All these 88 people were given all the privileges of the ministers. Apart from that, a group called Supervisory Councilors were appointed and given an amount of 6 lakhs per month to work in that position. All this was given to them in addition to the MP privileges. “

Prasanna Ranatunga, Chief Organizer of the ruling party, said this while making a special statement to the media in Colombo today (8).
