    Crude oil ship is arriving today – Minister warns for those who do not follow QR system

    A ship carrying 100,000 metric tons of crude oil is scheduled to arrive in Colombo tonight.

    Electricity and Energy Minister Mr. Kanchana Wijesekera said that the quality checks will be carried out tomorrow.

    Another 120,000 metric tons of crude oil is due to arrive between August 23-29.

    Both these ships are Russian Urals crude oil and are expected to start refining soon, he said.

    Meanwhile, the progress review meeting on the fuel distribution process was held this morning at the Kolonnawa petroleum distribution terminal.

    Here, the data of the last two weeks regarding the amount of fuel distributed to all the filling stations and the release of fuel using the QR system has been checked and discussed.

    The Minister claims that he advised to do the necessary legal and administrative actions on filling stations that dispense fuel deviating from the QR system.

    Also essential services, public transport, fisheries, agriculture, industries, tourism industries were prioritized and the progress of the fuel distribution process and public complaints were discussed.
