    A’pura hospitals lack medicines – Surgeries postponed

    The Association of Government Medical Officers states that there is a shortage of essential drugs in Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital and all hospitals in the Anuradhapura district.

    Dr. Ajantha Rajakaruna, Assistant Secretary of the Government Medical Officers’ Association, said that due to the lack of essential medicines in Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, several surgeries have been postponed and it is not possible to run intensive care units.

    Dr. Rajakaruna also mentioned that lorries from the Ministry of Health are not coming to supply medicines to the Anuradhapura district and due to lack of fuel, it is not possible to bring the medicines from Colombo.

    He also mentioned that the critically ill patients of Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital and all hospitals in the Anuradhapura district are facing serious danger.
