The provision of new electricity and water connections has been temporarily restricted due to the shortage of equipment required for new connections.
The Ceylon Electricity Board stated that it has not been possible to open letters of credit for the importation of relevant equipment and materials into Sri Lanka.
That is because of not having enough dollars.
The Electricity Board stated that the provision of new connections was temporarily restricted as the existing stocks of raw materials must be maintained to recover from sudden breakdowns.
