Medicines and medical aid worth USD 6,689,985 (Rs. 2,475,294,450) have been donated to Sri Lanka once again by Heart to Heart International, a recognized global humanitarian organization based in the United States of America.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Washington and the Heart to Heart International organization in the United States of America said this in a joint press release.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Washington is continuing its joint efforts to obtain essential medical aid from non-governmental organizations based in the United States of America.
In coordination with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and under the guidance of Mr. Mahinda Samarasinghe, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to America, the emergency medical supplies contained in this medical aid stock will be sent by air and the rest will be shipped.
Just as in the first medical aid stock provided to Sri Lanka, Heart to Heart Institute will bear all the costs here, and this stock of medicines will be distributed to the Sri Lankan people by the Ministry of Health.
The Heart to Heart International Organization, headquartered in Lenexa, America, is an organization that has been working for humanitarian work aimed at promoting global health since 1992, and currently has provided US$ 2.4 billion in medical aid to over 130 countries.
Currently, in addition to the first medical supplies worth USD 908,547 (Rs. 326,077,518.30) donated earlier, the Heart to Heart organization this time provided medical supplies free of charge worth USD 6,689,985 (~Rs. 2.5 billion) and provided a stock of valuable medical supplies worth USD 7,598,532 (~Rs. 2.8 billion)
The Ministry of Health, through the coordination of the Washington Embassy, will distribute the medical supplies for the benefit of the Sri Lankan people.
