According to the Department of Meteorology, an activation of Southwest monsoon conditions can be expected from tomorrow (01).
Therefore, the Department of Meteorology announces that an increase in rain and wind conditions can be expected in the western and southern sea areas and the southwestern part of the island in the next few days.
Western, Sabaragamuwa, North and North-West provinces and Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts will experience rain or thunder from time to time and some places will receive heavy rains above 100mm.
In Uva province and Ampara district, there may be rain in the evening or at night.
In the Western slopes of the Central hills and in the Southern province, the winds are blowing from time to time at a speed 50kmph. Gusts are also possible.
The department kindly requests the people to take necessary measures to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
