President Ranil Wickramasinghe has informed the Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dasanayake in a letter that he will resign from his position as a Member of Parliament from today (21) as he has assumed the position of President.
Accordingly, the Secretary General of the Parliament stated that he had informed the Chairman of the Election Commission in writing about the vacancy of the MP post due to the resignation of Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe.
Meanwhile, the United National Party says that they have not yet made a final decision as to who will be appointed for the vacant parliamentary seat.
