Mr. Dullas Alahapperuma, Member of Parliament, said that a consensus journey will begin today and pledges that he will work towards the people’s struggle to build the lives of the people beyond Diwanna.
The special press conference attended by Mr. Dullas Alahapperuma, the successor presidential candidate, and Mr. Sajith Premadasa, the opposition leader, was held at the Parliament premises today.
The polling for the election of the successor president will be held tomorrow, where it was decided to give the support of the Samagi Jana Balawega and the Samagi Jana Sandhana to the Member of Parliament Mr. Dullas Alahapperuma.
Mr. Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the opposition who had previously decided to run for the post of the next president, said that he had taken a historic decision for the people of the country at this moment and said that he would dedicate himself to introduce a real new culture to the politics of this country.
Mr. Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the opposition, said that this decision was taken by devoting himself to winning democratic rights for the people of this country, re-enforcing the 19th constitutional amendment and taking the country forward economically and socially and culturally.
