    Electricity bill comes in 3 new ways

    The Ceylon Electricity Board has taken steps to introduce three new methods instead of the method of issuing printed bills in the manner followed so far.

    Accordingly, it is stated that the following methods will be used in issuing monthly electricity bills to customers in the future.

    Issuance of printed bills using thermal paper If there are customers who expect some kind of physical bill, this bill will be issued to them during the monthly bill reading.

    After reading the monthly bills the monthly electricity bill will be sent to the phone number registered with the CEB through a text message.

    To register for this, you can get the support of the CEB representative who will visit the premises to read the meter.

    Or you can register yourself by sending a text message to 1987 using the ten-digit electricity account number with a space REG.

    The facility of getting the bill after reading the monthly bill is also provided using the CEBCare mobile app.

    The three new methods of issuing bills were introduced as one more step in the “CEB Assist” program, which aims to provide more efficient customer service as well as computerize corporate affairs, and issuing e-bills by e-mail as the fourth method of sending bills. Necessary technical arrangements are currently underway.

    The electricity board says that these methods are being implemented due to the current paper shortage of pre-printed and distributed electricity bills.

    The adoption of these new methods will not only increase efficiency but will also contribute to saving more than a billion rupees per year in a backdrop of rising expenditure on printed bills.
