Randenigala Rantambe sluice gates have been opened without any control, in line with the Ceylon Electricity Board’s trade union struggle, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said in Parliament today (09).
The Minister said that due to this trade union move, the capacity of hydropower generation will be reduced in the future and called on the people and all members of Parliament to unite against this.
The Minister said that the trade union struggle had been halted for two weeks by the court order and that a gazette notification had been issued making the Electricity Service an essential service and asked for support to pass the Electricity Bill with amendments which he is going to present today.
