Parliament is scheduled vto gather today. After today’s gathering of Parliament, its first task is to appoint a Member of Parliament for the post of Deputy Speaker.
At present two Members of Parliament have been nominated for the post of Deputy Speaker. They are Ajith Rajapaksa, Member of Parliament representing the Sri Lanka People’s Front and Rohini Kaviratne, Member of Parliament representing the Samagi Jana Balawega.
According to political sources, the ruling party and the opposition together will unanimously elect the Deputy Speaker without a single vote.
