    The Attorney General tells the police how to arrest the suspects banned from fleeing the country in connection with the May 09 struggle

    The Attorney General has instructed the IGP today to conduct investigations, arrest them and present them to court if there is any evidence regarding those who have been banned from fleeing the country by the court, in connection with the attack on the peaceful protesters in front of Temple Trees and at Galle Face area.

    The instructions have been given to several persons, including several former MPs and ministers.

    The Attorney General has stated that after collecting investigative as well as scientific evidence, statements should be taken from the relevant accused and if it is clear that they are involved in the crime, they should be arrested and produced before the court.

    The instructions further state that if these suspects Johnston Fernando, Sanath Nishantha, Sanjeewa Edirimanne, Milan Jayatilake, Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon, Dan Piyasath, Mahinda Kahandagama, Nalaka Wijesinghe, Bandula Jayamanne, Dineth Geethika, Saman Lal Fernando, Wasantha, Subash, Amal Silva, Sameera Chathuranga, Ramani, Thusitha Ranabahu, Sajith Saranga, Pushpalal Kumarasinghe, Nishantha Mendis, Pushpa Kumara, Sachini Fernando are not to be found at their known addresses, they must present evidences as well and an open warrant must be obtained by a magistrate for arrests.
