Lakshman Hulugalle, Consul General of Sri Lanka in Sydney, Australia has passed away.
It is said that the 66-year-old has passed away while he was admitted to a Sydney hospital due to illness.
Lakshman Hulugalle also served as the Director General of the Media Center for National Security during the war. It was then that he became one of the most prominent figures among the people.
He launched Star TV Lanka, the first satellite television channel in Sri Lanka in 2001.
He was also the owner of the Satnet Media Network which included then existing Sath FM and its English medium radio channel hitz FM.
