The Public Utilities Commission says that the Ceylon Electricity Board will have to bear a loss of around Rs. 250 billion if the electricity tariff is not increased this year.
Its chairman Janaka Ratnayake says the revision of electricity tariffs will depend on government policies.
He added that there will be no power cuts for more than 10 hours in the future, as said by some people.
PUCSL has to take legal action against all VVIP & VIP personnel who have defaulted payments.The issue can be overcome once this is done methodically. The people if default payment the electricity supply is discontinued. This is not done for VVIP & VIP personnel.
The board cannot operate at a loss as it is a monopoly organisation.
Profits can be earned if the following are considered
1 VVIP & VIP personnel should be charged with misappropriation.
2 Corruption & misappropriation to be dealt with zero tolerance
