    11 independent parties including SLFP decide not to support Ranil’s government

    The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and 10 other independent party groups have held two separate press conferences expressing their views on the appointment of Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Prime Minister.

    They have been showing their disagreement against the appointment of Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Prime Minister at both press conferences and have stated that their group is in favor of an interim government.

    Former President Maithripala Sirisena, the chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, has stated that they do not support the government of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

    He made this statement after the Central Committee meeting of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party this morning. The former president also emphasized that he would not take any post in that government.

    “We will not be part of any government that appoints Ranil Wickremesinghe as Prime Minister,” Maithripala Sirisena said.

    Former President Maithripala Sirisena has said that he will only support pro-country righteous agendas.

    Jathika Nidahas Peramuna leader Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa also stated at the media briefing held by the 10 party group that he is opposed to the appointment of the new Prime Minister and would not be associated with his government.

    Former Minister Udaya Gammanpila, the leader of the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya stated that they will not overthrow the government but will not support it either.
