Janaka Ratnayake, Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission says that every effort will be made to avoid power cuts on both the Sinhala and Hindu New Year days.
He added that although the power cuts were expected to end by April, the power cuts would be extended to May.
He said that despite the availability of sufficient fuel for power generation, the capacity of water used for power generation is decreasing day by day.
As a result, the CEB is facing a crisis in completing the national capacity, said the Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission, Janaka Ratnayake.
