According to political sources, opposition political parties are planning to launch a wave of strikes in various fields soon.
The sources further say that the wave of strikes will be targeted at key sectors in the country such as ports, customs, municipal councils, railways and transport services, health, education, electricity and energy.
It is reported that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, the United National Party and the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna and several other political parties in the opposition have already held discussions with the trade union representatives in this regard.
