Although the Minister of Finance has stated that an additional allowance of Rs. 5,000 will be given to government employees and retirees from this month, the pensioners have not been paid the additional allowance in January.
The January salary of the pensioners was paid on the 7th but they did not receive an increase of five thousand rupees.
When inquired about this, a spokesman for the Department of Pensions stated that the Ministry of Finance has not yet issued a circular regarding the allocation of the allowance of Rs. 5,000.
He also stated that the allowance of Rs. 5,000 could not be paid until a circular is issued.
