    MoU to promote Buddhist heritage between India and Sri Lanka

    Cabinet approval has been given for the promotion of Buddhist heritage between India and Sri Lanka. The Cabinet has endorsed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries.

    For the implementation of selected projects under this programme within five years, India has donated Rs.2.89 billion. Infrastructure development, cooperation in cultural and archeological sectors, exposition of sacred relics and organization of Buddhist pilgrim sites are among them.

    Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa presented the Cabinet paper in this regard.
