Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has agreed this morning to resolve the salary issue of teachers and principals, say the representatives of the teachers’ unions.
The decision was taken during a discussion with the Prime Minister at the Parliament complex this morning, said the Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers Union, Joseph Stalin.
Mr. Stalin said that the Prime Minister had promised to grant the salary increase at the same time as the proposal made by the Ministerial Subcommittee to resolve the issue of teachers’ salaries.
Mr. Stalin said it would fulfill the main proposal of the teachers’ and principals’ unions, but would continue to fight in the future if necessary to win the overall pay rise.
