    Road named after PM in Palestine speaks of friendly ties between SL and OIC countries

    Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) Dr. Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen had a meeting with Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris discussed the importance of integration among the community for the unity of the country.

    Referring to the Secretary General’s telephone conversation with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the Minister made mention of the long-standing friendship between Sri Lanka and the Islamic countries.

    He said Sri Lanka is one of the countries that recognized Palestine as an independent state.

    He said even a road had been named after by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa in Palestine in recognition of his cause to the people of Palestine.

    The OIC General Secretary appreciated Sri Lanka allowing the burial of Muslim victims of Covid-19.
