The Joint Association of Leasing and Debtpayers has called on the government to provide some relief to debt payers and leaseholders as the Covid epidemic is rampant in the country.
Asanka Ruwan Pothupitiya, General Secretary of the Leasing and Debt Consolidators’ Association said that their sources of income have been blocked and as a result, they are unable to pay their leases.
He added that a large number of self-employed persons in tourism, education, imports, exports, hotels, etc. are currently unable to pay their leases and loan installments.
Therefore, the government should take immediate steps to provide relief to those people, he said.
