Nearly 100 houses have been damaged due to a strong wind that blew across Attanagalla last night, according to the Gampaha District Secretariat.
More than 30 houses in the Ranpokuna village housing scheme in Nittambuwa alone have been damaged by the winds.
The Gampaha District Disaster Management Center states that houses in Malwatta, Maimbula, Thihariya and Yatiyana have also been severely damaged by the winds. More than 60 houses have been damaged in those areas.
The roofs of houses have been badly damaged by the winds. The roofing sheets of the houses were broken and blown away by the wind. There have also been a few trees fall in some places.
The Disaster Management Center states that an assessment is being made regarding the damage caused by the winds.
