Hospitals in Western Province begin to overcrowd

According to health officials, Colombo National Hospital, Kalubowila Teaching Hospital, and many other hospitals in the Western Province are now overcrowded.

Sources say that between 80 and 100 covid patients have been found in each of these hospitals this afternoon (05) and the capacity of all the hospitals has been exceeded.

Due to the increase in the number of corona patients, several new wards have been added to the hospitals and accordingly, 4 new wards have been added to the Colombo National Hospital, 2 wards to the Kalubowila Hospital and 2 wards to the Ragama Hospital, hospital sources said.

The Association of Public Health Inspectors says that because corona patients cannot be admitted to hospitals, patients with allergies and not so severely affected by the virus should be kept at home.
