The Secretary of the National Front of Professionals, Renuka Perera stated at a press conference in Colombo today that the Kotelawala Defense University is degrading both the security and education sectors of the country and therefore calls on the government to repeal the Act immediately.
Mr. Perera also expressed his displeasure to the government for bringing such a bill to the fore and said that the present government has proved to be an arbitrary government that does not respect the views of the people.
He added that the government was using quarantine laws to quell public protests against the Kothalawala Act.
Therefore, we call on the government to repeal the Kotelawala Defense University Act and turn it into a university with courses suitable for higher education in the armed services, he said.
