Secretary of Education Prof. Kapila Perera says that after vaccinating teachers and non-academic staff, schools across the country are expected to be reopened step by step.
He also said that schools could not be closed as it could harm students’ education.
Prof. Kapila Perera said that immediate steps will be taken to reopen schools step by step following discussions with the health sector and adopting health care practices.
The Secretary of Education also said that children should not be confined to their homes and that outside activities should be carried out in addition to educational activities and that schools should be open for that purpose.
